Never been a huge Elliott Smith fan, but I have to say that whenever I do, I find the sound somewhat haunting. This was even before I'd learned of his passing. There's something to be said about lo-fi, simple production that makes things more personal. I know this song's been played WAY too much, but for the few of you that haven't heard it (or haven't heard it since Good Will Hunting and thought WHO'S THAT?) give a listen to Miss Misery.

Martin Tielli (formerly of the Rheostatics) is such a captivating performer onstage, and I think that sensibility comes across in this song. If there's one word beyond the traditional list like talented and amazing, I would use "genuine". I dare you to watch and listen without being pulled in.
